easy Valentines with a free printable

Published on January 12, 2012Filed Under: Brandi Tagged With: crafts, Easy Crafts, free printable, Kids Crafts, Love, popcorn, Valentines Day

You ever have one of those days that you just kinda feel ‘blah’ย  for no reason at all?
Well that’s the kind of day I’m having. Cranky, snappy, need more caffeine, could really use a back rub, and maybe even a big piece of chocolate cake.
And, I should probably apologize to Brandon too! I was telling him about my idea for this printable and he tried to make a few suggestions. All of which I pretty much shot down and told him he was a big ‘ol stinky, hairy-legged boy that had no clue what he was talking about and I should have never even mentioned it to him in the first place…because what did he know? Big dumb boys; always trying to help us out when all we wanted was an “oh that’s cute babe’.
UGH!
But since Valentine’s Day is coming up I guess I’ll apologize and keep him around.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I came up with an easy way for Lexie to share a treat and a Valentine with her classmates; and it has nothing to do with chocolate. (Because this year, all the chocolate is mine ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

If you’d like to make your own you’ll need:

  • bags of microwave popcorn (1 for each Valentine)
  • scrap book or construction paper
  • scissors ( decorative if you’d like)
  • double sided tape or glue stick
  • ย FREE printable from TeamDuncan ๐Ÿ™‚

(The links for the fonts I used are at the bottom of the post)

First measure your bag of popcorn, I used mini bags and they measured 4 1/2 inches wide. Then cut your scrap book or construction paper according to your width and the length you desire. I cut mine long enough to wrap around the entire package, but you can cut yours to fit only the front if you’d like. Secure the paper to the bags with double sided tape.ย  Print off the printable, then cut them out slightly smaller than the front of your bag. I used some decorative edged ones, but if you don’t have any don’t worry. Attach the printable to the front of the bag with double sided tape or your glue stick.
You could also use a Valentine sticker on the back to secure the paper if you’re wrapping the entire bag. Also, if you don’t have any paper you could still attach the printable to the bags and they would be just as cute!
I’ve got a few more easy Valentine’s treats to share so stop back by next week and see what Lexie and I have come up with!
p.s. stinky-hairy-legged boys are good for something after all….Brandon helped me make the printable available to share. He still needs to learn to keep his mouth shut though, and double sided tape isn’t working for that!

Caroline, I LOVE fonts too, I have found several that I would love to have, but I refuse to pay for them. So I’ll hunt for some that look similar and then of course find more that I love too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I like mixing different ones together, like the subway prints etc.

Hi Tara. It’s actually not zipped. The file is in Microsoft Word. If you don’t have Word, you should still be able to open it in Works or Open Office. Here’s the site – https://www.openoffice.org/product/index.html

Hi, Jodi, sorry for the inconvenience. If the fonts are not installed on your computer it will not look like the ones listed. They are free and take seconds to install. (All the links are in the post)
If you cannot get it to work, please email us and we will send you a file using pictures rather than the text files. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is such an adorable idea! I’d like to use it, but I had the same problem of the document not having the cute font! I installed the fonts on my computer, but am still not able to find those fonts when I open and try to change it in Word. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? Or, could you just send me the document with pictures? Thanks so much!!!
