Happy Wednesday!

Published on March 29, 2011Filed Under: Brandon Tagged With: better yourself, meaningful, Thank you

I’ve been talking about the short creatures in your house for a few months now, but I want to make sure that you are a well rounded family man. Therefore, I have a question for you. Are you doing anything to show the other adult in the house who puts up with you your significant other that you care?
Appreciation doesn’t have to come in the form of a big shiny rock or a new ride, you know. To be honest, it doesn’t take much more than doing a little something outside of the norm. Easy stuff, like putting away your shoes, rinsing your own plate off, or just helping pick up the house.
Then again, you probably already do all that, right? I know you do.

Well… what else its there?

You could send a text here and there to say ‘I love you’ or ‘I appreciate everything you do for me/us’.
You could leave notes in places. Maybe a little heart and some X’s and O’s by the coffee pot?
If you are creative, you could write a note or draw a picture on the mirror with some dry erase markers. That way you know they will see it and it wipes right off. (I REPEAT, DRY ERASE, NOT SHARPIE!)
If you really want to impress, here’s something that you might not have heard of:

Happy Wednesday Flowers!

Wait…Wednesday? What is so special about Wednesdays?
Nothing! And that’s the beauty of it! Little known facts—florists are open all year ‘round and the prices of flowers are not always what you see at Valentine’s Day!

What if you’re like me and have the worst luck ever with florists or ordering flowers online?

Too easy. Go to a grocery store or one of those ‘buy everything here’ stores. They usually run good prices for the large sized bouquets and your ‘better half’ can break them up into several smaller arrangements all over the house or office. How is that for a good deal, huh?

So how does the process work?

It’s simple. Go buy the flowers (check for things like wilted leaves, dead patches, and broken stems) take them home, present them, and say ‘Happy Wednesday!’ (You can actually do this on any day, but Wednesday is usually pretty busy and not much else happens outside of the routine in the middle of the week.)
Now, don’t go getting a big head or anything. They may not *swoon*, but the thought is what really matters. Trust me, your efforts did not go unnoticed!
For you ladies who may be reading this, I made sure I posted it on Tuesday so that you have time to slam your man’s face into the screen suggest that he reads this before Wednesday. I’m trying to help you out here, too. If that doesn’t work? Tell him these are from me—your secret admirer! {wink wink}

Bouquet
These should do the trick, ehh? Happy Wednesday!

And your a romantic! Now I like you even more. (I will be expecting to see the pictures of the flowers you buy for your wife tomorrow).
You can be sure that I will be sharing this over both Twitter and Facebook. Maybe the hubby will see? (Note: I do have an awesome hubby. NOT complaining. But flowers are nice).

My wife has never really cared for flowers, and she means it I have come home with them a few times and they story is always the same! What she does like is a random phone call during the day to know I am thinking about her.
Also I have always found if your work schedule allows it, if you can get out of bed and tend to the kids while your other half catches a few more minutes of sleep to be well received.
Bonus points if you give her the whole Saturday morning.

Yeah, some people don’t do flowers (or have allergies.) The kid thing always works. I didn’t add it here, but I agree completely! Good to see you! Friday is the day, sir! 🙂

I think it is a good idea, but the problem for me is that the wife hates stuff like that and hates it more that I spend money on things that. She is so non matienance that it makes it harder

Hmmm… Maybe. I understand the money part of it. We struggle with that also. Not sure about the rest, lol! 😉

Flowers for no reason is always a really nice surprise! As a sidenote, I love getting them at work so that I can show them off and get lots of compliments from my envious co-workers. 😉

HA! Good call, Christy. I remember a lot of ‘awww’ going on when coworkers would get flowers at work. One of the ladies at the front desk would keep people’s deliveries displayed on her desk as long as she could, too. I don’t know who liked getting them more, lol!

So glad I found your blog! A “Daddy” blogger–how awesome!
I’m not a flower person, but I do like “little” gestures. Clean my car, rub my back, grab me a starbucks…nothing big, just something to let me know that you’re thinking of me or want me to have a good day.

The pleasure is all mine! Thanks for stopping in!
I completely agree with you. Something as simple as even taking your car to fill the gas can make an impression. The big picture is important, but the little things are the ones that matter most.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment! 🙂

Thank you for this reminder. Not for reminding me that Hubs rarely gives me flowers, but for reminding me that is is the little things. We used to be a lot better about staying connected and showing appreciation for each other. Then, along came the kiddo, and, well, you know. I am going to send him a text right now 🙂

I have to admit, I didn’t think I was going to like where you were going after the beginning of the second sentence, lol!
I’m glad I could inspire you to try and reconnect a little. You have to remember: there was just you two at one point and there will be again. You can’t lose each other in the middle.
