We hear a lot about childhood obesity, poor health, too many video games, and a slew of other negative health messages these days. Michelle Obama did an extensive campaign on the matter, helping to redefine healthy eating through MyPlate (the successor to the Food Pyramid) and even did spots on popular children’s networks promoting sports participation.

The governing body on physical fitness in the US recently revamped a program specifically designed for our youth called the Presidential Youth Fitness Program. (You can read this article for more information on the changes.) There is a website also dedicated to PYFP that includes education, standards, and more with a plethera of information for parents and kids alike.
Check out the site for information on the program, extensive white papers and instructions, and as an extra bonus to get those kiddos motivated, there’s even medals, badges, and school recognition certificates for participation!
So what are you waiting for? Go get those kids fit!
